For over 60 years the Mother Goose Parade has been an iconic piece of East County holiday cheer. Last year the Parade had financial difficulties, and this year money woes are once again hitting the event. The Board of Directors of the Parade has started a “Save the Goose” campaign to fund this annual event for its 63rd year, and is asking families and businesses to help.
The Board needs to raise $150,000 by the middle of September in order for the Parade to go on. Corporate Sponsors will be recognized in the Mother Goose Parade Souvenir Program and have their logo on the Parade website with a link to their own business website. Depending on the level of sponsorship, you may also receive VIP tickets to the Evening with the Stars event, Grandstand tickets, and a prominently displayed banner. Individual Sponsors/Members will receive a Certificate, mention in the Program, and chances to win tickets to the Evening with the Stars. You can also simply Donate to the campaign if that is your choice.
This year’s theme is “Storybook Friends,” so lets see if we can work together to keep those friends marching. The Parade is scheduled for November 22, but the real date to remember is September 15, which is about the time the Board of Directors will have to make the final decision on whether or not the Parade will go on.
