For the past several months we have been watching construction on the new center on Mission Gorge just east of Carlton Hills Blvd, and at last the time has come for businesses to start moving in. Henry’s Market will have its grand opening at its new location this Wednesday, November 12, beginning with a ribbon cutting at 6:45am (yes, folks, I do mean in the morning). There will be dignitaries and Chamber of Commerce members there, and the store will be throwing a big party to celebrate its new location. I will be there to get some photos of the ceremony, if I can drag myself out of bed that early. You don’t have to get there as early if you want to take advantage of some great specials – but you do have to get there sometime. So pop on down and help make this a great opening for an important business in our community.

Calling all interested young Santeeans – especially Boy and Girl Scouts – the Santee Sheriff’s Station will be holding a Youth Open House on November 18 starting at 1800 (that’s 6:00 pm for us average folks). This is a great opportunity for young people to get a taste of what it means to be a Sheriff’s Deputy and possibly join the Sheriff’s Explorer Program. This could also be a chance for scouts to get information on how the Department can help them work toward a crime prevention, law, traffic safety, or other merit badge.
The evening will start off with a welcome by Captain Duke and introductions by Crime Prevention Specialist Barbara Wallace. Deputy Blanco will talk about being a Patrol Deputy and Deputy Wilson will discuss the Traffic Deputy assignment. Juvenile Investigator Detective Whiteman will talk about juvenile crime issues and the role of investigating detectives. Explorer Advisors Deputy Blanco and Deputy Klepac will be there to talk about the program and answer any questions. There will also be K-9 demonstration and a tour of the station.
If you would like more details about the Open House, contact Crime Prevention Specialist Barbara Wallace at 619-956-4022 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
