Stay cool if you can.

Hot Enough for Ya?

I just thought i would put up a quick weather report for today.  HOT!  This is a picture of my indoor/outdoor weather station, and yes, the outside station is on the north side of the house.  I will be back with something more interesting soon.

I guess this means it’s time to turn on the A/C.

Santee Business and Craft Expo

I had planned to get this up on Saturday, but several days of Internet connection problems got in the way.

This past weekend ( June 7 & 8 ) was the 19th annual Business and Craft Expo in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  The Expo is always a great chance for businesses to show off to the community, and this time we had nice weather to go with it.  It’s also a time for the craft-minded to share their work and talents, and there were several very interesting booths of crafts, from woodworking to knitting to glasswork and beyond.

The Expo also gives the city’s various departments the chance to show people just what is going on in the community.  As always, the Recreation Department showcased the various dance classes; the Planning Department displayed diagrams and artist’s renderings of ongoing projects, and the various public safety departments and groups did mini-education presentations.

If you missed the Expo, worry not.  There will be a Santee Day at the San Diego County Fair later this month, and there is usually a separate Craft Fair at Wal-Mart in the Fall.  Now, at last, here are pictures from the Expo.  The best way to see them is to right click on the picture you want and open it in a new window/tab, then left click to enlarge.

Ramona CYT Presents “Narnia”

We have just completed the first weekend of performances on “Narnia” by the Ramona Christian Youth Theater (CYT) group.  For those of you who don’t know what it is, CYT is a non-profit Christian organization that teaches children theater arts and then produces plays.  Adults are involved as directors, choreographers, and in other leadership positions, but all of the actors are ages 8-18, as are most of the crew (lights, sound, props, etc.).  Because the Ramona group is fairly new and doesn’t have a lot of kids involved yet, and there are heavy items to move, most of the set work has been done by adults for this production.  I had planned to be involved only in the writing and editing of the show program, but ended up being recruited into the backstage team.  It has been fun, but I haven’t seen the show yet, except for little glimpses as the kids go on or off stage.  You may remember that three Santee kids are in the play as Mr. and Mrs. Beaver and Mr. Tumnus.  I was planning on sharing some pictures from the dress rehearsals, but I’ve been having some technical problems and they won’t post.  If I get things working I’ll have them up.
